Oscar Rosmano on Temple Club and the UND3RT3MPL3 project
Portuguese-Mexican DJ and promoter Oscar Rosmano outlines the story of Temple Club and launches his new UND3RT3MPL3 project. He also reflects on the future of independent venues across Europe.
Oscar Rosmano, DJ, producer, promoter and venue owner, has opened Temple Club in Lisbon, located in the historic former Europa Sunrise space in Santos. The club has become a haven for progressive house, techno and underground electronic music in Portugal, according to his own words.
Rosmano has released music on labels such as Manual Music, Polyptych, Musique de Lune Noire and Modus Vivendi, and his track “Karyna” reached the Beatport Progressive House Top 100 this summer. He explains that all his roles – promotion, club management and production – are interconnected, though the pleasure of reading a crowd from the booth remains his main drive.
The UND3RT3MPL3 project, announced recently, will cover events, bookings and a record label with the mission of bringing progressive house to a new generation. Rosmano describes it as “a new chapter” for progressive music, without specifying release dates.
Regarding the pressure on independent venues, Rosmano says running Temple has taught him resilience against rising costs, regulations and urban changes. He asserts that, despite challenges, the city needs nightlife culture for tourism and cultural life.
