Darude revisits ‘Sandstorm’ with Storm 25 remix
The creator of ‘Sandstorm’ drops his first official remix, Storm 25, to mark the track’s 25th anniversary. The cut serves as a preview for the EP ‘Sandstorm: The Remixes’.
Finnish producer Darude released today, September 18, his first official remix of the anthem ‘Sandstorm’. The new ‘Storm 25’ drops amid his STORM 25 world tour, which kicked off last summer and will run through 2026, and is issued on his Vibing Out label.
The remix serves as the lead preview for the forthcoming EP ‘Sandstorm: The Remixes’, slated for October 2. “‘Sandstorm’ has such an incredible life of its own and, honestly, I’m just grateful people are still dancing to it,” Darude said. He noted that many producers warned him it was too risky to touch, but he felt it was a personal project and a chance to test its impact on 2026 dancefloors.
The 1999 classic has surpassed one billion streams and amassed 322 million YouTube views, earning gold and platinum certifications. Darude also performed the remix live at EDC Las Vegas and recalled sharing the original with Alan Walker at Tomorrowland last year.
