Samantha Poulter, known as Logic1000, reflects on her album 'Confirmation!' and how motherhood and Berlin shaped her creative process and self-acceptance.

Samantha Poulter, known as Logic1000, appeared in an interview after recording a new episode of her podcast Therapy, confessing her first stay in London would have triggered a panic attack: 'It wasn't the city, it was me'. Between raising her daughter Genie and living in Berlin, Poulter has created a space in east London she describes as small but definitive: 'Everything feels as it should be, it feels good'. Her debut album 'Mother' (2024) documented motherhood with honesty, while 'Confirmation!' explores total creative liberation with her partner Tom McAlister (Big Ever).

During the production of 'Confirmation!' alongside Tom McAlister, Poulter describes how they dropped the rules: 'We consciously became more open... we let our guards down'. The album blends trip-hop, '80s synth-pop and leftfield electronica, maintaining her house style. Highlights include 'The Only One', with cinematic synths, and the closing 'Forgiven', which reworks 'DJ Logic – Please Forgive Me' (2018). Poulter confesses that motherhood taught her 'music is not serious' and playing with her daughter returned the lost creative freedom.

Her six-year residency in Berlin was key to her inner security: 'Berlin gave me this sense of safety... it developed my confidence in the world'. This stability allowed her to be more playful and less in fight-or-flight mode. Motherhood also forced her to confront her childhood, reaching the point of hating her mother, but difficult conversations ended in reconciliation: 'Now we're inseparable'. That search for forgiveness closes the album with 'Forgiven', a piece that builds tension but resolves without a traditional climax.
