NoCopyrightSounds wins £1.4 M interim payment

NoCopyrightSounds secures a £1.4 M court-ordered interim payment from former distributor AEI Music. The ruling precedes a full trial scheduled for January 2028.

The High Court in London has ordered AEI Music to make an interim payment of £1.4 million, plus interest, to NoCopyrightSounds ahead of a full trial scheduled for January 2028. The ruling also requires AEI and its former sub‑publisher Featherstone Music to provide interim accounts outlining the debt and any sums retained for NCS artists and songwriters.

Simkins, the law firm representing NCS, noted that even the defendants’ own evidence places the debt at a minimum of £4.5 million; after crediting AEI’s counterclaims, the court settled on £1.4 million, describing the figure as generous to the defendants.
