Thirteen tracks, out on 16 October. The Belgian surrounds herself with electronic names — Justice, SebastiAn, Soulwax — plus Caroline Polachek, weeks after lending her voice to the only feature on Amelie Lens’ debut album.

Angèle has announced ‘Instinct’, her third studio album: thirteen tracks, out on 16 October. The interesting part for anyone who lives on dancefloors is not her name, it is the list of who is standing behind it.

The credits carry Justice and SebastiAn — two surnames that stand in for an entire French school — plus the Belgians Soulwax and the American Caroline Polachek. It arrives through Angèle VL Records and Sony Music.

The announcement comes with a single, ‘Une seule vie’, with a video directed by Thomas Mailaender, who describes it as memories and mental images physically bursting into her reality. Analogue aesthetics, memory and time: this is not a promo clip, it is a statement of what record is coming.

And it arrives with context: a few weeks ago she was the only guest voice on Amelie Lens’ debut album. From Antwerp techno to the Ed Banger house, the same singer in two worlds that ten years ago were not on speaking terms. That is a scene story too.
