Moby, BLOND:ISH and Kiko Franco redo 'Natural Blues' with Jacob Lusk
The version that went viral at Coachella is out at last: it landed on 14 August on Defected, with Jacob Lusk's live voice over BLOND:ISH's piano house and Kiko Franco's percussion.
'Natural Blues' is from 1999, off the album 'Play', and it rested entirely on a sample: Vera Hall singing 'Trouble So Hard', a field recording Alan Lomax made in 1937.
On the version out now that voice is no longer a sample. It is Jacob Lusk singing it live, over BLOND:ISH's piano house and Kiko Franco's percussion.
The idea was born on a stage, at Coachella, when Moby played it with Lusk and the clip took off. The three had already signed a reading of the track together; this is the one that closes the circle.
It came out on 14 August on Defected, with two tracks: the single mix and an extended cut just under five minutes.
