Chris Stussy changes one letter and is now Chris Stassy

He dropped it on 18 August on Instagram, with one line and no reason given: “One letter, same mind”. His handles already carry the new name, and the label, Up The Stuss, stays as it was.

Dutch producer Niels Christian Steenbergen had been signing as Chris Stussy for years. On 18 August he photographed himself in front of a poster and changed his name in public: “One letter, same mind. Same music, same vibe. Thank ‘U’ for everything, ‘A’ new chapter in my life”.

He gave no reason. In the comments his followers point to a possible clash with the American clothing brand spelled almost the same way, but nobody has confirmed that.

His debut album, ‘Lost, Found & Forgotten...’, came out last March still under the old name. The label, Up The Stuss, keeps its own.

The new name gets its opening at his N.A.M.E. party series: 22 August in Birmingham and the 27th in Amsterdam.
