Native Instruments launches Massive XL
Native Instruments presents Massive XL, the third generation of its Massive synthesizer, with new sound design tools and full compatibility with Massive X.
Native Instruments announced Massive XL, the third edition of its flagship synthesizer, succeeding Massive X from 2019. The wavetable synth maintains the two-oscillator, 10-mode design but adds custom wavetable generators and over 100 new wavetables. The launch price is 99 euros until the end of 2026.
The standout feature is the Preset Generator, which transforms an audio reference into four editable patches. Other novelties include the Mutator and Randomiser, which modify sound components. The Mutator changes filter, oscillator or effect types, while the Randomiser only adjusts their settings.
Tim Adnit, representative of Native Instruments, stated that "Massive has always been about giving producers the freedom to create sounds that feel uniquely their own". With Massive XL they aim to help users reach those sounds faster, maintaining the flexibility and control characteristic of the saga while introducing more immediate experimentation tools.
Massive XL is fully compatible with all Massive X content, so every preset and expansion you own works immediately. The Massive XL Player allows playing included presets and any from Massive X expansions, using the Morpher and Animator to personalize sound live or in studio.
Following the acquisition of Native Instruments by inMusic in May, the company has released SuperStarSaw in collaboration with A.G. Cook and three new sound packs for its 30th anniversary. Massive XL will join the 360 subscriber service in 2027, offering immediate access via demo mode.
