On 31 May 2027 the first nonstop link between the United States and the island takes off: four flights a week between Newark and Ibiza airport across the whole season. Until now it meant changing planes in Madrid or Barcelona.

The island has spent years sitting one connection away from New York. From 31 May 2027 that changes: a US airline will fly nonstop between Newark and Ibiza airport, with four flights a week running until early October.

The timing is no accident: it covers almost exactly the club season, from the May openings to the October closings. The route will be flown with the new Airbus A321XLR, a single-aisle jet built to cross the Atlantic, and that is what makes the numbers work without having to fill a widebody.

Demand had already been pointing this way. Between January and June 2026 there were close to 4.9 million flight searches between the United States and Ibiza, up 39.7 % on the same period in 2025. Between April and October 2025, American visitors made up 5.2 % of the island’s international tourists.

For the scene it means one very concrete thing: the American crowd that used to make the pilgrimage with a stopover will arrive in one go, and all season long. The island moves a little closer to the world without going anywhere.
